Letter to the editor:

EPA head is robbing us

The ongoing wastefulness of Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is just another example of government largesse gone awry. With every first-class trip, every member of his security team and every secretive decision, Pruitt is reaching into each of our wallets and stealing from the American people. As a small-business owner in Nevada, I find this type of spending behavior extremely disturbing. Sen. Dean Heller , R-Nev., cannot stand by silently, allowing Pruitt to squander taxes generated in the Silver State.

Regardless of your stance on environmental regulations or clean energy, every Nevadan should be outraged by the blatant waste of taxpayer money taking place at the EPA under Pruitt. Nevada prides itself on being a low-tax state — but being that comes with the discipline of fiscal responsibility. Our federal representation should reflect this ethic.

Heller should step up and demonstrate leadership in the face of such public waste. It would be advantageous for the Republican Party to identify a fiscally responsible replacement for Pruitt soon. Inaction at this stage is sure to have electoral consequences in November, particularly for incumbents.
