The universal background check bill will go down as a $25 tax on law-abiding gun owners.
Criminals are exempt by definition.
Those who drew up the original ballot question knew a fee would deter voters, so they used the federal background check system. This is why it could not be implemented when voters approved it.
There is no exception for individuals with concealed weapons permits, even though they have had training and a rigorous background investigation.
Loopholes exist, for example security guards and police, if purchasing for their work, are exempt.
I would support this 100 percent if there were no fees involved.
