In response to the April 20 letter “Military just keeps expanding”:
I spent 19 out of my 24 years in the U.S. Air Force stationed in overseas bases, and there was and is a need for some type of presence. We should be able to rest easier knowing that our military keeps us safe.
A stronger military, in the world today, is a necessity. We need to show any adversary that we have the capability to deter any aggression toward us. This cannot be accomplished by letting our military fall behind.
Some trimming of the budget that can be done without sacrificing our readiness but we need to always be prepared and ready.
I hope our leaders will be united in this venture.
