Those days are numbered, however, as Harper is scheduled to report to spring training in Florida this week. Before joining his Washington Nationals teammates, the 20-year-old made a stop Friday in Henderson to receive an honor from Findlay Toyota. The car dealership proclaimed it Bryce Harper Day.

It’s only natural considering Cofer played six of his eight NFL seasons with the 49ers, which included back-to-back Super Bowl titles in the 1988 and 1989 seasons.

More likely, they stop at a Redbox kiosk to grab a title, or they download movies from Neflix, Blockbuster or Amazon. Brick-and-mortar movie rental shops across the valley have closed in spades in recent years. That hasn't deterred Trevor Layne.

Chris Francis doesn’t surprise people when he tells them he’s a professional hockey player — unless he adds where he’s from in the sentence.
Francis is 100 percent Las Vegas, which isn’t known for producing hockey players or for having a quality youth hockey system. But Francis, who was born and raised in the valley, and is a prominent member of the Las Vegas Wranglers hockey team, is bucking that trend.
