A pedestrian crossing a south valley roadway outside a designated area was fatally injured Friday night when she was struck by a compact SUV, according to Metro Police.
The 67-year-old Las Vegas woman died shortly after being transported to University Medical Center, police said.
Officers and medics responded about 6:15 p.m. to South Jones Boulevard, near Robindale Road, police said.
A preliminary investigation determined that the woman was trying to cross Jones when she was struck by a 2010 Mercedes Benz GLK350, police said.
The 72-year-old motorist stayed at the scene, police said. Impairment was not suspected.
This was the 98th traffic fatality investigated by Metro this year.
