An armed man was fatally shot during an altercation at a food truck parked at a southwest Las Vegas gas station Thursday night, according to Metro Police.

A woman — one of two people working the truck — who is believed to be the sister-in-law of the victim, was being questioned by homicide detectives, said Lt. Ray Spencer in a briefing broadcast online.

No charges had been filed as of late Thursday, he added.

Gunfire erupted about 8 p.m. at Warm Springs Road and Jones Boulevard, Lt. Miguel Ibarra said.

The shooting victim had showed up to the business and an argument between he and the woman erupted, Spencer said. It wasn’t clear if the other man in the truck was involved in the altercation, Spencer noted.

Details of what occurred next weren’t immediately clear, but at some point the woman apparently shot the man, Spencer said. At least one eye witness backed up that account, he added.

Metro Police detectives and crime scene analysts gather at the scene of a fatal shooting at Warm Springs Road and Jones Boulevard Thursday, April 16, 2020.

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper driving in the area was flagged down by witnesses and the officer encountered a crowd around the wounded man, who was receiving first aid, Spencer said.

But he died at the scene, Spencer said. The woman, who was armed with a gun, was taken into custody.

It also wasn’t clear if the shooting victim fired any rounds — gun was found near his gravely wounded body, Spencer said.

Detectives were interviewing several witnesses, and forensic investigators were in the process of pulling tape from the gas station, Spencer said.

The investigation at the scene was expected to go into early Friday.
