Two critically wounded in southeast Las Vegas shooting

A victim and a suspect suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds in an apparent foiled robbery early today in a southeast Las Vegas apartment complex, according to Metro Police.

Both men were shot by a second suspect, who remained unidentified and on the run, Lt. Ray Spencer said.

Police were summoned 4:30 a.m. to a gated complex in the 5400 block of Mountain Vista, near U.S. 95 and Tropicana Avenue.

Coming home from the gym, the victim parked in front of his apartment building when two men approached his car to rob him, Spencer said.

At some point, one of the suspects shot into the car, hitting the victim multiple times, Spencer said.

The gunman also shot the second suspect, though it wasn’t clear how it occurred, Spencer said.

The victim was able to drive away and call 911, and he and the wounded suspect were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in “extremely critical” condition, Spencer said.

Due to the severity of the injuries, Metro’s homicide unit had taken over the investigation.
