North Las Vegas police still seeking leads in fatal residential shooting

The fatal gunshot blast that killed a 25-year-old man near his North Las Vegas neighborhood overnight Jan. 8 went unreported for a few hours.

A month after the slaying, detectives are trying to drum up leads to catch the shooter, who remains unidentified, North Las Vegas Police said Friday night.

Officers were dispatched about 5 a.m. to the 5600 block of Indian Springs Avenue, near Ann Road and Clayton Street, where they found the victim lying on a sidewalk, gravely wounded. He was not far from his house.

Medics determined the single bullet proved fatal and declared him dead at the scene, police said.

Witnesses later told detectives that they heard gunshots between 2 and 2:30 a.m. but didn’t report them, police said.

Police did not release additional details nor identify a possible suspect, and said a motive hadn’t been determined, but noted they were working “around the clock” to solve the case.
