This boat, once used by the Southern Nevada Water Authority to collect water quality samples from Lake Mead, will be among available items at a government surplus auction on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020.

From sandwich display coolers to Michael Kors and Coach bags, the first Clark County government surplus auction of the year will have a wide range of items available for purchase.

The triannual event features items obtained by local police as well as lost and found items from McCarran International Airport. This year, a boat formerly used by the Southern Nevada Water Authority to collect water quality samples from Lake Mead will be among available items. The boat comes equipped with two Chevy engines, an air conditioner and a heater.

“The boat was in use since 1999 and is a pretty unique piece of equipment because of its size and power,” said David Johnson, manager of the county’s Automotive Services Division.

The preview and pre-registration period will go from Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the same location as Saturday’s auction, 4320 Stephanie Street, off East Flamingo Road near Dog Fancier’s Park.

"We encourage people to come to the preview period so they can pre-register and beat any lines they may encounter on Saturday at the registration trailer," Johnson said.

Listings of vehicles and miscellaneous items being sold are posted on tntauction.com.

The Saturday auction starts at 8 a.m. and will feature 300 vehicles and 420 lots of miscellaneous items. Those with the winning bid can pay with cash, cashier's check, credit card, debit card, traveler's check or money order.

Each auction draws between 1,800 and 2,000 bidders, raising millions every year for Clark County and other participating governmental entities, with $5.8 million raised in 2019.
