A Las Vegas businessman faces years in prison after pleading guilty in a deadly DUI case.
Real estate broker Scott Gragson pleaded guilty Friday to charges of DUI causing death and DUI causing substantially bodily harm in a May crash that killed a mother of three and injured three other people.
Defense attorneys said they would ask District Judge Michael Villani to impose the minimum sentence of six years , while prosecutors are expected to request a sentence of at least 10 years.
The 53-year-old Gragson is grandson of former Las Vegas Mayor Oran Gragso.
Gragson was driving when his car hit a tree, killing 36-year-old Melissa Newton and injuring three other passengers after a charity golf tournament he organized.
Gragson in a statement provided to reporters expressed deep sorrow for those killed, injured or impacted by his actions, and he said he pleaded guilty to spare others the pain of a trial.
