Metro searching for suspect in fatal hit-and-run in northeast valley

Metro Police are searching for a white Dodge SUV and its driver, who struck and killed a pedestrian in the central valley this morning before driving away.

The 60-year-old victim died at University Medical Center, police said. He was only identified as a Las Vegas resident.

The crash was reported at 5:09 a.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard South, near Owens Avenue.

According to preliminary information cited by police, the man was crossing the road outside a designated area when he was hit by the SUV, which was heading north on the boulevard.

The driver kept going, but left behind the vehicle’s passenger-side mirror and parts of a headlamp, police said. The SUV is a newer-model Journey or Durango, police said.
