Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas is ready to party.

Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas is celebrating its 16th anniversary this month with it’s largest-ever keg tapping, a special menu and more on January 31. The authentic beer hall located at the corner of Harmon and Paradise will host the “Queen of Vegas” Frank Marino as the official Bürgermeister (master of ceremonies) leading a procession of local entertainers from shows including Chippendales, “Fantasy,” “Thunder From Down Under and “X Burlesque” to help tap the first keg of Hofbräuhaus’ seasonal dark wheat beer. The specialty menu will include Gulaschsuppe, a beef goulash with sour cream and chives; Frische Schweinshaxen, a crispy pork shank served with green cabbage and bacon salad; and Rinderrouladen, a braised beef roll with bacon, onions, pickles and red wine sauce. True Food Kitchen recently made its Las Vegas debut with a big, bright location at Downtown Summerlin. Now the Phoenix-based restaurant brand is expanding to the Strip. It will open an 11,000-square-foot spot with an indoor patio and the first True Bar on February 12 at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Star chef David Chang recently announced on his award-winning food podcast that he’s planning to open a restaurant-within-a-restaurant at his new Majordomo destination at Palazzo. It will be called Siberia and will specialize in a hybrid style of all-you-can-eat Korean and Brazilian barbecue. No word yet on an opening date.

The Las Vegas invasion of the James Beard House in New York City continues. Award-winning Lotus of Siam chef Saipin Chutima will participate in the February 20 event “New Voices: Thailand Meets Japan,” also featuring Sarah Gavigan of Nashville and Jocelyn Guest and Erika Nakamura of New York. Before that, Border Grill executive chef Mike Minor will make his Beard House debut on February 3 with his “Bold Mexican Flavors” dinner. For more information on these events, visit jamesbeard.org.

Eatt Gourmet Bistro on West Sahara Avenue is set to close on January 25. The owners plan to use the space for private events and will continue to operate their French fine dining destination Partage on Spring Mountain Road.

Save the date of May 2. The third annual Vegas Unstripped local restaurant extravaganza will be happening on that day at a location to be determined. It’s been held in the area around Esther’s Kitchen the first two years, but it’s been so successful and attracted such a great lineup of local chefs and eateries, Unstripped needs to grow. Stay tuned.
