Metro Police say they’ve identified a suspect in the brutal beating and robbery of an elderly woman caught on video inside a downtown Las Vegas elevator earlier this month.

He is James Moore, a 43-year-old believed to be homeless, police said today in an effort to get the public to help find him.

The attack occurred at 9:21 p.m. in the 300 block of Fremont Street, police said.

Footage from the elevator’s surveillance video shows the suspect and the victim alone. As the woman tried to step outside when the door opened, the suspect put her in a headlock, pulled her inside and continuously beat her face as the door closed.

Police said the suspect then took her purse, which he hid in his hooded sweatshirt, and fled the scene. Security later recovered the bag nearby.
