Juveniles detained in slaying at Las Vegas convenience store

Metro Police have arrested two juveniles suspected in the shooting death of a man early Saturday outside a Las Vegas convenience store, whom the youths allegedly tried to rob.

As described by police, the victim and the two suspects pulled up in his vehicle to the store in the 8600 block of Sahara Avenue, near Durango Drive., shortly before 1 a.m. The victim, whom the juveniles tried to rob in his vehicle, ran into the store and asked the clerk to call 911, police said.

While the clerk was on the phone, the victim stepped outside, where he was gunned down by one of the robbery suspects, police said. The police dispatcher heard the gunshot blasts over the phone.

The juvenile suspects, who police didn’t identify due to their age, were jailed on one count each of murder and robbery, police said.

It wasn’t clear how old they are, why they were riding with the victim, how detectives identified them, or when and where they were taken into custody.
