Henderson joins Las Vegas in allowing curbside alcohol sales

Businesses in Henderson with both alcohol and food-service licenses will be allowed to sell curbside spirits with meals, city officials announced Thursday night.

Additionally, marijuana dispensaries in the city that were ordered to shut down in an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus will be granted permission to proceed with sales through a delivery service "until further notice," the city of Henderson said.

The orders went into effect at 5 p.m. Thursday.

To obtain a temporary permit that is free of charge, operators of taverns, breweries and restaurants must email the city's business operations division at [email protected]. Information in the message must include the name of the business and its address, the license number and a contact phone number for the owner or manager.

The permit will expire in 30 days or whenever Gov. Steve Sisolak lifts the shutdown order for nonessential businesses, officials said.

The establishments will be able to sell liquor "in conjunction" with curbside meals, which were already allowed under the order, officials said.

The decision came hours after a similar one by Las Vegas officials.

The coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 illness, has infected at least 535 in Nevada. The 10 fatalities reported in the state originated from Clark County, where the number of confirmed infected stood at 350 on Thursday.
