For those in a rush at the airport, there’s usually the option to buy snacks, headphones, charging cords — almost anything — from a vending machine.

At McCarran International Airport, travelers can now also buy personal protective equipment out of vending machines.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Las Vegas airport on Wednesday introduced its first PPE vending machines.

Without interacting with a clerk, customers can buy things like gloves, masks, hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes. Two are at Terminal 1 at McCarran while one is inside Terminal 3.

A reusable cloth mask sells for $14.50, while a pack of three disposable masks goes for $7.50. The price for a four-pack of disposable gloves is $4.50.

Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews said it’s too early to gauge how popular the machines, provided by a vendor called Prepango, will be with travelers.

Airports are being tasked with helping travelers feel safe and comfortable during a time when people across the globe are concerned about the spread of the coronavirus.

In a video posted to social media Friday, the airport showed how employees are wiping down and sanitizing high-touch areas and bathrooms.

“We are ensuring that all shifts are disinfecting everything,” Todd Garcia, a custodian at McCarran, said in the video. “All surfaces, any kind of place you would put your hand to in order to open a door or push an elevator button, basically any surface you would touch here at the airport.”

Social distancing markers have also been placed at various points throughout the airport.

McCarran experienced a 50% decline in passenger traffic in March compared to the same month last year, the most recent data available.
