A Henderson Police officer shot a kidnapping suspect Thursday night following a short pursuit near Boulder Highway and Galleria Drive, according to Lt. John Plunkett.
A 911 dispatcher received a call from a man who said he just escaped a kidnapping near Boulder Highway Lake Mead Parkway, Plunkett said. The victim gave a suspect and vehicle description, noting that the perpetrator was armed.
Police responding to the call spotted a vehicle that matched the description and tried to pull it over, Plunkett said.
The motorist sped away, but crashed at the Galleria intersection, Plunkett said. He exited the vehicle with a gun in his hand and the officer shot him, hitting him multiple times, Plunkett said.
It wasn’t clear if the suspect fired any rounds. A motorist in the vehicle that was struck by the suspect’s vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Plunkett said.
The suspect was rushed to a hospital, where the extent of his injuries was not known, Plunkett said about 8:30 p.m.
Plunkett said it was too early to know what led to the kidnapping or if the suspect and victim knew each other.
