CARSON CITY — State officials on Saturday reported 323 additional COVID-19 cases in Nevada along with four additional deaths, increasing the statewide totals to 75,419 cases and 1,528 deaths.
Johns Hopkins University data analyzed by The Associated Press showed that seven-day rolling averages of daily new cases and deaths in Nevada declined over the past two weeks.
The average of new cases went from 409 on Sept. 4 to 327 on Friday while the average of new deaths dropped slightly from 12.6 to 12.1
The number of infections is thought to be far higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected with the virus without feeling sick.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
