Strip shooting lands victim in hospital; suspect arrested, Metro says

Updated Monday, Sept. 28, 2020 | 2:29 p.m.

A man was wounded in a shooting late Sunday on the Las Vegas Strip, and a suspect was arrested in California, according to Metro Police.

The victim, who was critically injured, had been stabilized at a hospital, Lt. David Gordon said early Monday.

The California Highway Patrol later arrested a suspect, Christian Miller, 19, near Baker, Calif., police said. He was being held in California awaiting extradition, police said.

A fight between five to 10 men broke out shortly after 11 p.m. on a sidewalk in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, Gordon said.

During the altercation, a man pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting another man in the chest, Gordon said.

The group took off running north, later heading east, Gordon said.

Detectives had taken over the investigation, Gordon said. Further details were not provided.

This is the latest in a string of nonfatal shootings near the tourist corridor, including a drive-by shooting early Saturday that wounded three after a fight outside the Stage Door Casino.

Tuesday night, a man was shot in the leg at the Aria valet area, police said.

And a week ago, a man was shot five times after a fight broke out outside the Paris-Las Vegas, said police, who later arrested three suspects.
