Las Vegas police: Clark County jail inmate dies at hospital

An inmate at the Clark County Detention Center has died, according to Las Vegas metro police.

They said officers responded to the cell of the 60-year-old man Friday when correctional officers said he fell off a bench but declined medical attention.

About an hour earlier, police said the inmate had refused his medication and lunch.

Police said other inmates yelled for help later when the man was seen slumped over.

The inmate was taken to a Las Vegas hospital where he died.

Police said the man was booked into the jail Thursday on charges of trespassing and drug possession.

They said the inmate didn't have any arguments or fights with other inmates or officers before he died.

His name and cause and manner of death will be released by the county coroner's office after his family is notified.
