Police: Man found dead near Las Vegas hiking area

Metro Police are investigating the “suspicious death” of a man who was found in a desert area on the city’s west side.

Lt. David Valenta said in a briefing that dispatchers received a call at about 7 a.m. today of a body found by construction workers near Alta Drive and Cross Bridge Road.

The site was near a popular hiking area, Valenta said, and the body had not been out there “extremely long” when it had been discovered.

The unidentified dead male sustained “apparent trauma” to the head, Valenta said. Cause of death was not determined and details of the victim will be released by the coroner’s office.

Valenta said investigators did not yet have a description for the suspect, and no further details would be released at this time.

He urged anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 702-828-3521, or by email at [email protected]. To remain anonymous, he said, contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 702-385-5555, or online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
