UNLV is bringing its big graduation ceremony back to the Thomas & Mack Center this month.
The winter 2021 commencement begins at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. It will be the first time since 2019 that undergraduate and graduate students have crossed the Thomas & Mack stage.
Coronavirus concerns led to virtual graduation ceremonies in 2020 and an outdoor celebration at Sam Boyd Stadium in May, although the medical and law schools held limited-capacity, in-person commencements at Thomas & Mack last spring.
About 2,200 students from 45 countries and 37 U.S. states and territories will be celebrated next week, a class about 4% larger than last winter’s, UNLV said in a news release. The vast majority of graduates, though – about 88% – are Nevada residents.
