Motorcyclist, 18, killed in south valley crash is identified

The Nevada Highway Patrol today identified an 18-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash in south Las Vegas on Saturday.

He was Blake Enrique Reyes, of Las Vegas, the patrol said.

About 12:40 p.m., Reyes was speeding on his Yamaha, heading east on Blue Diamond Road, when he slammed into a turning pickup truck at Lindell Road, the patrol said.

Reyes died at the scene, said the patrol, noting that the investigation was ongoing.

Ten people have died in eight crashes investigated by the patrol this year, including two motorists killed a few hours earlier by a suspected DUI motorist who ran a red light on St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Boulevard South.

KVVU-TV today identified the victims in that crash as Jorge Franco, 36, and Edwin Giovanni Gutierrez, 46.
