CARSON CITY — Nevada elections officials reported a slight increase in registered voters in May, adding a little more than 11,200 people to the state's voter rolls.
Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske reported that nearly three-quarters of the new registrations were nonpartisan. Democrats saw a net loss of 96 registrations and the Republican Party's numbers decreased by 475.
Democrats compose 36% of the 1.8 million voters. Republicans make up 31% and unaffiliated voters are 25%.
Cegavske says the reduction in registered Democrats and Republicans came amid routine voter list maintenance run by the counties.
Overall the number of registered voters increased by a little more than half a percentage point from April to May.
