Suspected DUI driver arrested after fatal crash in Las Vegas

A suspected impaired driver has been arrested after a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

They said a 60-year-old bicyclist traveling on Tropicana Avenue and Tenaya Way was struck from behind by a vehicle about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man suffered substantial injuries after being ejected from the bicycle and later died at a hospital. His name hasn’t been released yet.

Police said the person driving the vehicle involved in the fatal crash fled the scene.

But witnesses followed it and gave police the license plate number and vehicle description.

Police went to the address of the registered owner and located the vehicle and arrested 34-year-old Tyrrell Smith.

They say Smith showed signs of impairment and was arrested for the suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

It was unclear Sunday if Smith has a lawyer yet for his case.
