A motorist who ran a red light caused a two-car crash in the central valley this morning that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries, according to Metro Police.

The wreck occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard North and Washington Avenue.

A Chevrolet Trailblazer was heading south when its driver failed to stop at a light, and was hit by an eastbound Dodge Journey, police said.

The Chevrolet then struck the pedestrian, who was standing on a sidewalk, police said.

The 31-year-old Las Vegas man was in critical condition at University Medical Center, where the Dodge’s driver also was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Impairment was not suspected, police said.
