Police searching for driver who fatally hit man outside casino

Las Vegas authorities are searching for a woman suspected of driving onto a sidewalk and fatally hitting a man outside a casino.

Metro Police say the incident happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday a few blocks east of the Strip.

According to witnesses and surveillance video, a car traveling on Sahara Avenue veered onto the sidewalk.

The vehicle struck a man who was sitting on the stairway in front of Eureka Casino. The impact threw him into a retaining wall.

The driver fled, hitting several poles along the way.

Police say the victim, who was in his 60s, was taken to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. He has not yet been identified.

The incident brings the number of traffic-related deaths investigated by Las Vegas police this year to 20.

The driver is described as roughly 5-foot-7, between 25 and 35 years old, weighing between 120 and 140 pounds and having long dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark blue sweater with white writing across the chest, blue jeans and grey athletic shoes.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a white Ford F-150.
