Police: Woman, 47, faces murder count in unprovoked attack

A 47-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to an unprovoked attack that left another woman dead and a man in critical condition, Metro Police said today.

Vanessa Harvey was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of open murder and attempted murder, police said.

Metro received a report of an injured person about 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of West Owens Avenue, police said. Officers found the man and woman suffering from blunt force trauma, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said. Police did not release their names.

The victims were walking together when Harvey attacked them, police said. Harvey was subsequently taken into custody without incident, police said.
