An inmate at the Clark County Detention Center died Wednesday after suffering from an apparent medical episode, Metro Police said Thursday.
At 6:29 p.m. Wednesday, a Metro Police corrections officer was conducting visual checks when he observed an inmate on the floor of his cell, according to a Metro release. The inmate initially communicated with the officer, then “appeared to experience a medical episode.”
Medical personnel responded, but the inmate became uncooperative, according to the release. The inmate was handcuffed without incident and placed in a recovery position.
As medics were checking on the inmate, he became unresponsive. Medical personnel began life-saving measures, but the inmate was pronounced dead at the jail, according to the release.
The inmate was booked into the detention center on Sept. 3 on a felony warrant for domestic violence with threats and domestic battery on a pregnant victim.
The inmate’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
