Three Las Vegas construction workers were injured when lightning struck just feet away from them, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.
Two workers were treated at the scene and the third, who was conscious and talking, was taken to a hospital, officials said.
They were eating lunch outside their truck about 2 p.m. in the 1200 block of Lindell Road, near Charleston Boulevard, when lightning struck about five feet away, officials said.
Las Vegas was under a severe thunderstorm warning this afternoon, with heavy downpours and high winds reported, according to the National Weather Service.
The fire department urges people to take shelter in a building or vehicle if they hear thunder. If the construction workers had been in their truck, they likely would not have been injured, officials said.
