A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection to a murder earlier this month near the University District, Metro Police said today.

Christopher Cotton was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for murder with a deadly weapon, police said in a news release. The identification of the victim was not released.

Police responded to a shooting in the 900 block of East Twain Avenue, near Cambridge Street, at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 3. Responding officers found a man inside an apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he later died, police said.

Homicide detectives believe the victim was inside an apartment when Cotton allegedly walked up and asked the victim to step outside. When the victim exited, he was shot and Cotton fled, police said.
