Woman, 80, dies after crash on East Flamingo

An 80-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed in a collision Tuesday after the van she was riding in was struck by a truck that failed to stop for a red light, Metro Police said today.

The crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Burnam Avenue, police said in a release. Evidence suggests a 2017 Forest River Van driven by a 34-year-old Las Vegas woman was driving west through the intersection and had a green light when it collided with a 2012 Ford F-150 that failed to stop for a red light.

The pickup driver remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, police said. The two women occupying the van were transported to Sunrise Hospital with injuries that were thought to be non-life-threatening at the time.

The older woman, who was not identified, died from her injuries several hours later, police said.

The driver of the F-150, a 47-year-old Las Vegas man, and a 28-year-old Las Vegas man riding with him, both sustained minor injuries, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
