Michael Carbonaro will take over for Penn & Teller this summer.

Well, that was fast. Dionne Warwick’s residency at the Stirling Club at Turnberry Place, launched March 24, lasted a small handful of performances before the plug was pulled. Warwick told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that issues with the venue setup are to blame, but the show’s producers and Stirling Club reps said slow sales were a factor.

Ubiquitous TV magician Michael Carbonaro (“The Carbonaro Effect,” “30 Rock,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “CSI Miami”) will be taking over the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio while that magical duo hits the road this summer, starting in May. “He is one of our favorite magicians and we are so happy to be able to present him in his first extended Las Vegas run,” Penn Jillette said in a statement. P&T will be in Australia from late May into early July while Carbonaro fills in with his unique blend of laughs and illusions. He’ll be onstage Thursday through Sunday at 8 p.m. from May 26 through July 10.

Across the hall, reality TV star Vinny Guadagnino has signed on for a fourth run as celebrity host at Chippendales at the Rio, an extended summer engagement starting May 27 and continuing through July 3. The affable East Coaster from “Jersey Shore” and “Double Shot at Love” just finished his most recent Vegas stage series on April 10.

Among this week’s concert and live entertainment announcements: Joe Rogan’s Sacred Clown Tour stops at MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 1; Chris Tucker is back at Wynn for two new nights of comedy at Encore Theater on July  8 and 9; Iration and Atmosphere will bring their co-headlining tour to the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on July 8; the Nu Metal Madness Tour featuring (hed)p.e., Crazy Town, Adema, Flaw and N.E. Last Words will visit downtown’s Backstage Bar & Billiards on July 28; Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats will perform at the Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on August 19; Everclear’s 30th anniversary tour brings the alt-rock band to the M Resort on September 3; LANY and Surfaces will play Brooklyn Bowl at the Linq Promenade on September 10; Alejandro Fernández will return to the Strip with Mexican Independence week shows on September 15 and 17 at the Grand Garden Arena; Pitbull and Sean Paul bring the Can’t Stop Us Now Tour to Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood on September 16 and 17; and Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band have added a second show at MGM Grand Garden Arena on October 15.

In only its second weekend of preview performances, “Mavericks” at Cheapshot on East Fremont continues to build buzz with guest stars dropping in to get in on the fun. The one and only Mac King joined Miss Behave Friday night for some impromptu sleight-of-hand in the tiny downtown showroom, certainly a different venue and audience from the comic magician’s residency show at Excalibur.

The great Mikalah Gordon, Las Vegas singer, actress, comedian and more who’s been in Los Angeles as of late but returns to perform in Sin City every so often, will be doing just that this weekend at DW Bistro. Her concert in the courtyard with David Hernandez is set for 7:30 p.m. on April 16 and tickets are available at dwbistro.com.

Get this one on your calendar: The Space will host an all-star lineup of Vegas artists for “The Life of Stephen Sondheim” on May 12 at 8 p.m., with all proceeds from the event going to benefit The Actors Fund. Considering the amazing performers who regularly grace the stage at the Space for Mondays Dark and other events, this tribute to the iconic American composer and lyricist will be one to remember. Tickets are $30 at thespacelv.com.
