Metro Police today identified four officers involved in a shooting earlier this week in the 3000 block of South Nellis Boulevard.

Officers Brice Clements, 36, Alex Gonzales, 39, James Rothenburg, 39, and Sgt. Russell Backman, 46, have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of the shooting, police said.

Two of the officers, all members of the SWAT team, were wounded and a suspect was killed in a shooting that occurred as authorities were serving a search warrant in connection with a November homicide, police said.

The injured officers, who were not identified, were expected to survive, police said. They were taken to University Medical Center and were listed in stable condition, police said.

The deceased suspect was also not identified. Police are expected to announce more details about the shootings at a briefing within the next 48 hours.
