British singer Elton John performs during his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour at the 53rd Montreux Jazz Festival (MJF), in Montreux, Switzerland on, June 29, 2019.

Mosaic on the Strip, the former nightclub and event space that transformed into an exciting showroom over the pandemic, closed suddenly right before the July 4 weekend. Operator Dean Coleman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Mosaic was in need of serious renovation planned for September, but a recent discovery caused him to deem the venue unsafe to continue. The theater had been home to several different musical tribute and cabaret-style shows, including Las Vegas Weekly Best of Vegas award winner “Queens of Rock” and Michael Jackson-themed “MJ The Evolution.” Those two productions could find new showrooms soon, but it appears as if this venue’s short but interesting run as Mosaic is over.

The new Palms has its first musical residency. Las Vegas singer and songwriter Frankie Moreno will take over the Kaos nightclub space with a new show appropriately titled “All The Hits” on July 29-30, August 19-20 and September 23-24. Showtimes are 8 p.m. and tickets start at $31. Moreno has reached the No. 1 spot on iTunes charts 67 times, more than any other artist, and he played a wildly successful three-month series of shows at the Palms more than a decade ago when live music was a staple at the property’s casino lounge. Now it looks like the former club space created by previous Palms owners Station Casinos is transforming into a multi-purpose entertainment venue under new owners the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority.

It was expected but never guaranteed, until now. Elton John has added one Las Vegas date (so far) to his acclaimed Farewell Yellow Brick Road final tour, scheduled for November 1 at Allegiant Stadium. The tour is promoted by AEG Presents and American Express card members can purchase tickets now through July 17 before the general public sale opens on July 18 at 10 a.m. Las Vegas has been John’s most-played city throughout his long career thanks to his two epic residency shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, also promoted by AEG. The sStadium show is set to complete the North American branch of the tour, totaling more than 180 concerts since kicking off in 2018. John will perform this weekend at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

In other Las Vegas entertainment event announcements this week: Singing sensations Daniel Emmet and Pia Toscano will perform at the Westgate International Theater on August 6 in a concert presented by local nonprofit entertainment entity Mondays Dark; Emmy-winning comedian, actress and writer Sarah Silverman will perform with special guests at Encore Theater at Wynn on September 4; Spanish pop icon Emmanuel will perform at the Colosseum for the first time on September 17; Sebastian Maniscalco will bring the laughs back to Encore Theater on September 17 when he films a new Netflix comedy special during two shows that night; Multi-talented musician Blackbear will bring his first headlining tour to Brooklyn Bowl on September 23; Comedian Bert Kreischer returns to the Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on September 30; “Jackass” star Steve-O will perform his comedy act at the Theater at Virgin on October 16; Pop-rockers Train will perform at the Theater at Virgin on November 4; And heavy metal outfit Amon Amarth lands at Brooklyn Bowl on November 11.

Mayfair Supper Club at Bellagio has refreshed its live entertainment offerings with a new show evolved by No Ceilings Entertainment, which launched the venue with MGM Resorts in 2019. New songs, characters, costumes, choreography and “surprise moments” are part of the production now, which remains a non-ticketed event ready for enjoyment by dinner guests at the glamorous destination. We can’t wait to check out the new show, so stay tuned to the Sun and Las Vegas Weekly for future coverage.

Terry Fator is doubling down at New York-New York, launching a new monthly appearance at the Bar at Times Square — “Terry Fator After Hours” — occurring after his music, comedy and ventriloquism show “Who’s the Dummy Now?” at the Liberty Loft. Fator will pair up with other Vegas entertainers to perform while accompanied by the bar’s famous dueling pianists, starting around 9:30 p.m. on July 14, August 18, September 22 and November 17. More dates are expected to be announced soon.

The Life Is Beautiful festival has announced its comedy lineup for this year’s event, September 16-18 in downtown Las Vegas. Scheduled acts include Butterboy, Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancheria, Maeve Higgins, Joel Kim Booster, Latrice Royale, Giggly Squad, Hannah Einbinder, Megan Stalter and Sarah Sherman, Ricky Velez, Atsuko Okatsuka, Jordan Rock, Andrew Lopez and more, including live podcasts Going Deep with Chad and JT, Celebrity Book Club with Steven & Lily, and Y2YAY with Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin.
