Cirque du Soleil’s “The Beatles LOVE” at The Mirage in Las Vegas

Cirque du Soleil slipped an intriguing announcement out into the world just before the weekend, confirming the 16-year-old “The Beatles LOVE” will continue performances at the Mirage through 2023. Hard Rock International is closing the deal to purchase the Mirage and plans a comprehensive renovation into a new Hard Rock Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, scheduled to open in 2025. Exact details of the resort’s transition are yet to be released and it’s unclear if it will shutter completely while a guitar-shaped hotel tower is built on the site and other spaces are transformed into a new destination. One thing is now clear — Cirque and HRI are working together through this and possibly other stages of the property’s transition, so perhaps the door isn’t closing on “The Beatles LOVE” in Las Vegas.

Speaking of Cirque du Soleil, its Cirque Dreams franchise will be launching “Cirque Dreams Holidaze” across more than 40 U.S. cities this year in November and December. The Broadway-style, family-friendly production conveys the magic of the holidays through contemporary circus arts, music and more. But it does not currently have any dates slated for Las Vegas.

The Latin Grammy Awards will return to Las Vegas on November 17, airing live on Univision beginning at 8 p.m. from Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay. Nominees for the 23rd annual awards show will be announced on September 20.

In other live entertainment announcements this week: Girl Talk will play Brooklyn Bowl on Sept. 16; St. Vincent will perform at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms on Oct. 1; the Elevation Nights touring music and worship experience will land at T-Mobile Arena on Oct. 26; Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros will take the stage at the Theater at Virgin on Oct. 28-29; Koe Wetzel also is scheduled to visit the Theater at Virgin on Dec. 6; and Cody Johnson will be a part of the country music takeover of the Strip in December when he shows up at Michelob Ultra Arena on Dec. 9.

Jon Dorenbos, a finalist on Season 11 of “America’s Got Talent,” will guest host the blockbuster Strip version of the TV competition show, “America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Live” at Luxor, from Aug. 18 through Sept. 11. The former Philadelphia Eagles long snapper plans on dazzling audiences five nights a week his magic act.

Comedian and actress Jaclyn Marfuggi has joined the cast of “Magic Mike Live” at Sahara Las Vegas, sharing emcee duties with the fabulous Chelsea Phillips-Reid, who helped open the show at what was then the Hard Rock Hotel. Marfuggi has spent time onstage at the Comedy Store, HaHa Comedy Club, the Hollywood Improv and the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, and has made plenty of appearances on TV and in touring productions. She takes over the role vacated by another stage veteran, Jordan Kai Burnett, who recently wrapped a great run in Las Vegas to move on to big things on both coasts. Following in Burnett’s footsteps is her fiancé Asher Treleaven, who performed as Captain Kunton in “Opium” at the Cosmopolitan for the last time over the weekend. The Vegas scene will miss the immense talents of Burnett and Treleaven.

The Stirling Club has unveiled its entertainment lineup for the rest of the month, including Jaime Lynch on July 27, Armi Guzman on July 28, Joelle Righetti and The Gypsy Trio on July 29 and Frankie & The Infernos on July 30. Performances begin at 6 p.m. in the Spirits Lounge.
