Las Vegas police: Suspect in slaying found dead of apparent self-inflicted gunshot

A suspect in a fatal shooting in a parking lot during a dispute has been found dead, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded Oct. 20 to a report of gunfire near the 2700 block of South Maryland Parkway, police said. A man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators determined the victim had been in an altercation with the suspect, who pulled out a gun and shot him before fleeing the scene, police said.

The suspect, 21-year-old Cameron Mendiola, was found the next day in the 6800 block of Bermuda Road suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
