Katy Perry dominates the Strip with ‘Play’

The Latin Recording Academy has announced that rising and established stars Anitta, Luis Fonsi, Laura Pausini and Thalia will serve as hosts for this year’s 23rd annual Latin Grammy Awards, set for November 17 at 5 p.m. at Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay. Announced performers so far include Christina Aguilera, Camilo, Elvis Costello, Jorge Drexler, John Legend, Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, Christian Nodal, Angela Aguilar, Rauw Alejandro, Marc Anthony, Banda Los Recoditos, Chiquis, Nicky Jam, Jesse & Joy, Carin Leon, Sin Bandera, Sebastian Yatra and Marco Antonio Solis. A limited number of tickets are available at axs.com and the show will be broadcast live on Univision.

Taylor Swift’s huge tour announcement this week, including a March 25 date at Allegiant Stadium, has captivated the music scene in the same way her new record-breaking album “Midnights” has assaulted the charts. Once you register for tickets via Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, check out this week’s other Vegas concert and event announcements: Funnyman Joe Gatto lands at the Theater at Virgin on January 15; Katy Perry has added a full batch of new shows to her “Play” residency production at Resorts World Theatre, starting February 15 and running through April 15; Rick Springfield will open a new rock residency at the Strat Theater with two shows on March 24 and 25; and comedian Fortune Feimster brings her Live Laugh Love Tour to Encore Theater at Wynn on April 1.

A new show with familiar feels opens this week at the Alexis Park Resort. “Frankly Frank,” a tribute to Frank Sinatra starring Gary Anthony, makes its debut on November 6 and is set to perform Sunday through Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Modern Showrooms at Alexis Park, which includes the Pegasus and Athena spaces. Tickets start at $99 and are available now at modernvegas.com. The show will feature rarely heard stories, top hits from the Chairman and less-known tracks as well. Anthony has performed his version of his Sinatra to audiences all over the world.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Live” at the Flamingo has added 7 p.m. performances along to the normal 9:30 p.m. showtime on November 4-5 and December 10. HopeLink of Southern Nevada brings back its Jammin’ 4 Hope fundraising concert to benefit the organization’s housing, food, employment, shelter, utility and low-income child assistance programs on November 12 at Fremont Country Club. The event will feature performances from the Soul Juice Band, Chicks Who Rock, Franky Perez, Roni Lee and Billy Burnette, with the music starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 and available at link2hope.org.

More New Year’s Eve shows and events have been announced in Las Vegas, including the Fremont Street Experience’s huge “NYE Time of Your Life Festival,” which will feature performances from Bush, Sugar Ray, The Wailers featuring Julian Marley, Sugarhill Gang, All-4-One, Tag Team, DJ Skribble and more, all across three stages on December 31.
