School locked down as Las Vegas police investigate nearby shooting

A school was locked down as a precaution today while officers investigated a shooting at a nearby home, Metro Police said.
The shooting scene, near the 5200 block of Tipper Avenue, remains active, police said.
The shooting was reported just a few blocks south of Francis H. Cortney Junior High School.
Police asked people to avoid the area as the investigation is ongoing. Roads were closed in the area, police said.
