The Golden Knights will be playing in another outdoor game, this time on a grander scale.

Next year's Winter Classic, one of the premier events on the league's calendar, will take place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Jan. 1, 2024 when the Golden Knights visit the Seattle Kraken, the NHL announced today.

The announcement was made prior to Monday's Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins at Fenway Park in Boston.

The game will be broadcast on TNT. Ticket pricing and a start time will be announced at a later date.

“These special events make for great experiences for players and fans alike and none are better than the NHL Winter Classic," Golden Knights president of hockey operations George McPhee said in a statement provided by the team. "We hope plenty of VGK fans can join us in Seattle and witness our great NHL game in this unique environment.”

In what will be a marquee matchup featuring the league's newest teams, this will be the second time the Golden Knights will take part in an outdoor game. Vegas took part in the NHL Outdoors series at Lake Tahoe on Feb. 20, 2021. That game took part during the COVID-shortened 56-game season with no fans in attendance.

That game was also highlighted by a nine-hour delay due to the ice melting.

T-Mobile Park, home to the Seattle Mariners with a roof, has a capacity of close to 48,000 people. This will be the Kraken's first outdoor game in what will be their third year of existence.

"I enjoy them," coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters after morning skate Monday. The Golden Knights are in Denver to face the Colorado Avalanche tonight (6 p.m., ATTSN-RM). "I think it will create great memories and will be great for the families."

This will be the 16th Winter Classic ever, and T-Mobile Park will be the eighth different venue to host the game. This will be the first Winter Classic taking part in the western United States. The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks played a Stadium Series game in Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25, 2014.
