Metro Police investigating fatal pedestrian hit-and-run

Metro Police have arrested a North Las Vegas woman in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Saturday morning.

Joanna Meza, 19, was located and taken into custody Saturday after allegedly striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene at Lake Mead Boulevard, near Mt. Hood Street, police said.

The collision took place about 4:25 a.m. Saturday, when the pedestrian — a 24-year-old North Las Vegas woman — was hit by the sedan Meza was allegedly driving while attempting to cross the street on Lake Mead.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation, police said.
