Pedestrian killed by vehicle in Sunrise Manor area

A Las Vegas man was killed Tuesday evening when he was struck by a car while crossing an intersection north of Sunrise Manor, according to Metro Police.

A sedan was traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard approaching the intersection with Nellis Boulevard about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said. A pedestrian then began crossing Las Vegas in a marked crosswalk, failing to obey the “walk, don’t walk” sign and entering the sedan’s path of travel, police said.

The front of the sedan struck the pedestrian’s right side, causing him to be projected forward before coming to rest on the road. The 23-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the sedan, a 20-year-old Las Vegas man, cooperated with the investigation and did not show signs of impairment, police said.

The collision remains under investigation.
