Police shooting under investigation (UPDATED)

Henderson police are investigating an incident in which a woman driving an ice cream truck became irate and threatened officers with a knife today — which led to an officer shooting her.

The incident that led to the shooting began at 3:10 p.m., when Henderson officers responded to a report of a speeding ice cream truck near Sunridge Heights and Pecos Ridge Parkway.

When they arrived and began questioning the man driving the truck, he called his wife, who arrived in her own ice cream truck. Although details are sketchy, police reported the woman got out of the truck, threatening officers with a knife — at one point with a child in tow.

Officers rescued the child, then, after warning her to put down the knife, shot once, police said. The woman is in critical condition at Sunrise Hospital.

Her husband has been arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and for running a stop sign, police said.

The child is safe.

This is the second officer-involved shooting incident in Henderson this year.
