Metro Police officials said that two men have been shot this afternoon in two separate incidents.
Metro has confirmed that a ninth grade student at Palo Verde High School was shot and killed after a carload of teenagers drove by and shot him as he walked home from the school near Pavillion Center and Alta drives. Alta Drive was closed in both directions in front of the school.
An hour later, a second shooting between teenagers occurred near Whitney Elementary School near Tropicana Avenue, Boulder Highway and Jimmy Durante Drive, police said.
Officials said the victim was transported to a local hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time.
