Three separate shootings leave police scrambling

Metro Police officers responded to three separate shootings today, all of them taking place as Las Vegas schools let out for the day.

Eyewitnesses told KLAS TV Channel 8 that a 15-year-old male, believed to be a student from Western High School, was shot in the leg across the street from Gibson Middle School near Valley View Boulevard and Washington Avenue. The victim was taken to University Medical Center, but his condition is unknown. Eyewitnesses said a large fight broke out when a pickup truck, possibly a gold Chevy Silvarado, drove by and three to five shots rang out. The victim tried to run but fell to the sidewalk clutching his leg.

In the second incident, police say that a child was shot with a pellet gun near Walnut Avenue and Craig Road, but injuries were not life-threatening.

The third reported shooting occurred near Mojave Road and Washington Avenue. There were no reports of injuries in that incident.
