UPDATE: Dane Cook took the title "The Unfunniest Comic" today, beating out competitors including Jay Leno, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy.
In the spirit of March Madness, Boston radio jocks Toucher & Rich honed in, bracket-style, on 16 comics to decide who deserved win the dis/honor of being named "The Unfunniest Comic." The bracket is here.
Naturally, Dane Cook had an early lead, beating out Larry the Cable Guy in the first round (Cook plays the 4,000-seat Colosseum at Caesars Palace May 23-25). But that may have just been a timing thing -- Carlos Mencia hadn't been factored in yet.
There were many obvious omissions (where was Carrot Top?). Many of the comics implicated on the bracket have recent or upcoming bookings in Las Vegas, including Margaret Cho (just played the Pearl at the Palms on Saturday), George Wallace (now and forever at the Flamingo), Jay Leno (April 4-5, 25-26 at the Mirage) and Robin Williams (May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena).
