See the San Francisco Opera in Las Vegas

On the big screen, that is:

San Francisco Opera and The Bigger Picture announced today a collaborative effort for worldwide distribution of six operas per year in feature-film quality digital cinema format. First up is Puccini's "La Rondine," and you'll be able to see and hear it locally at the Rave Town Square 18 from March 8-11.

Next up: Saint-Saens' "Samson and Delilah" (March 29-April 1), Mozart's "Don Giovanni" (April 12-15) and Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" (April 19-22). The performances were recorded live at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco.

And New York's Metropolitan Opera continues its successful second season of live HD broadcasts with Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes," viewable March 15 at these five Vegas-area movie theaters (there will be a March 16 "encore" at three of the venues.
