Party guide to St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is an excuse to party. Regardless of your potential lack of Irish blood, there are plenty of places to celebrate. In addition to the club and pub events, there are community events like the corned beef and cabbage eating contest at Hash House A Go Go and several St. Patrick’s Day-themed dances around town. Check out the list of events below to plan your perfect St. Patty’s day.

Community Events:

March 13:

“Sons of Erin” St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival in downtown Henderson: The City of Henderson will go green for the 43rd annual “Sons of Erin” St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, March 12-15 in the Henderson Events Plaza. The family-friendly event will include a parade with 100 units, dance groups, horses and marching bands dressed in the color of the day: emerald green.

March 14:

Village Craft Beer Festival at Lake Las Vegas: Get your St. Patrick's Day drinking started a little early at the Village Craft Beer Festival at Lake Las Vegas where you can sample microbrews from Buckbean Brewing Co. and support the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Nevada all in one fell swoop.

St. Patrick's Day Dance at Charleston Heights Arts Center: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a lively Dance at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. The Don Burke Dance Band, comprised of six professional musicians from show bands of the '40s and '50s, will play a host of big band styles including Latin, Swing, waltzes and ballads.

March 17:

Corned beef eating contest at Hash House A Go Go: Hash House A Go Go and country station KWNR will host a corned beef eating contest in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Cheer on the pre-chosen contestants as they race to devour two pounds of cooked corned beef and a wedge of cabbage.

St. Patrick’s Star Wars Workshop at Johnson Community School: Create your own green light saber, eat shamrock cookies and take on the Evil Empress and her crew at the St. Patrick’s Star Wars Workshop at Johnson Community School.

Lucky Clovers Workshop at Becker Community School: Calling all Leprechauns! Make a St. Patrick’s Day candy container and fill it with green treats. Enjoy a refreshing float and treat at the Lucky Clovers Workshop at Becker Community School.

A Touch O' Irish Dance at Las Vegas Senior Center: Enjoy this specialty-themed and decorated Big Band dance with light refreshments at Las Vegas Senior Center.

Elmo’s St. Patty’s Day Extravaganza at Johnson Community School: Wear green and bring your favorite Elmo doll to make an Elmo mask and leprechaun pot at the Elmo’s St. Patty’s Day Extravaganza at Johnson Community School.

St. Patrick's Day Dinner at East Las Vegas Community Center: Enjoy all the traditional favorites at the St. Patrick's Day Dinner at East Las Vegas Community Center.

Leprechaun Smoothies at Doolittle Senior Center : Enjoy socializing over a Leprechaun smoothie at Doolittle Senior Center.

Club and Bar Events:

March 17:

St. Patrick's Day beer pong tournament at Ovation: Register for the $1,000 Beer Pong tournament, which runs from 6-9 p.m. at Ovation at Green Valley Ranch. Pub Crawl at the Fremont Street Experience: Try a Pub Crawl on St. Patrick's Day at the Fremont Street Experience. Enjoy drinks at Hennessey's Irish Tavern, Mickie Finnz, Brass the Lounge and Las Vegas Country Saloon. There is a host of other drink specials at downtown casino bars including $2 shots of Irish Whiskey and a souvenir shot glass in the Vue Bar at Fitzgerald's. Enjoy live music by Tempest and Whiskey Galore on the Fremont Street stages.

St. Patrick's Day at Margaritaville: St. Patrick's Day kicks off at 3:17 p.m. at Margaritaville. Folks arriving dressed in green will receive $3.17 green margaritas, draft beer and food specials. Register to win $317 in prizes. And if your birthday happens to fall on this auspicious day you will receive a $31.70 gift certificate.

The Luck of the Irish at Studio 54: Studio 54 at MGM brings the Luck of the Irish to Las Vegas. The party will be hosted by two Leprechauns. If you collect the most beads, you'll win an MGM Grand luxury package. Entry into the club gets you one strand of beads, each bottle purchased gets you 10 strands and every drink you order gets you another strand.

St. Patrick's Day at Rockhouse : Enjoy two-for-one green Budweiser drafts, 100 ounce green daiquiris and no ‘clover’ charge before 10 p.m. at Rockhouse on St. Patrick's Day. Rockhouse blends the local dive bar with the Las Vegas party scene to create a sort of "ultra dive bar."

St. Patrick's Day concerts and drink specials at Mandalay Bay's J-Pop Lounge: Enjoy great St. Patrick's Day concerts and drink specials at Mandalay Bay's J-Pop Lounge. Starting at 3:30 p.m., enjoy live music by Rattle and Hum, Wild Celts and The Limit plus drink specials including $4 16-oz. Guinness beers, $5 Irish-ritas (green margaritas featuring Don Julio Blanco) and Irish finger food including corned beef sliders and potato skins.

St. Patrick's Day Street Party at O'Sheas: The Strip's only Irish-themed casino is throwing the wildest St. Patrick's Day party, right out in the street. Enjoy drink specials and entertainment, contests.

St. Patrick's Day at Santa Fe Station: Santa Fe Station's lounge will be giving away a free round of Shamrock shots every time the DJ plays an Irish jig. Ladies can enjoy free champagne all night long.

Erin Go Bra-gh St. Patrick's Day party at Blush: Blush at Wynn presents Erin Go Bra-gh, a St. Patrick's Day party with Jameson's and a green bra competition for cash and prizes.

Steiner’s serves up craic on St. Patrick's Day: Steiner’s- A Nevada Style Pub will be serving up craic (good fun!) on St. Patrick's Day. Special St. Patrick’s Day drinks include a variety of Jameson and Midori based cocktails at $5; Guinness Car Bombs with Bailey’s and also Red Bull Leprechaun cocktails at $6; and Guinness, Bass, and Blackthorn draft pints at $4 each. Special Steiner’s St. Patty’s Day t-shirts will be available at each of its three locations.

St. Patrick's Day specials at Via Brasil: It's not an Irish joint but that doesn't mean they won't serve up some St. Patty's Day deals. Party on St. Patrick's Day at Via Brasil Steakhouse where you can enjoy $4 shot and beer specials, 2-for-1 drink specials for ladies and DJ Chris De Jesus spinning from 8 p.m. on.

St. Patrick's Day at Coyote Ugly: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Coyote Ugly where guests can enjoy two-for-one draft beers from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The Coyotes will entertain the crowd with their exciting bar-top performances while guests enjoy the awesome drink special.

St. Patrick's Day at Dick's Last Resort: Party at Dick's Last Resort at Excalibur on St. Patrick's Day where you can see their famed entertainer, Taco, shaking his groove thing all night long. The party will feature green daiquiris and a two-for-one special on draft beer.

Irish Pub Events:

March 14:

Five Days of Blarney at J.C. Wooloughan Irish Pub: J.C. Wooloughan Irish Pub in the JW Marriott Las Vegas will host a five-day festival to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from March 13-17, including Irish Happy Hours, performances by The Wild Celts, the Martin Percival School of Irish Dance, Thompson/O’Keefe, John Windsor, Playground and Tartanic, a traditional Irish brunch and plenty of Irish food and beverage.

St. Practice Day at McFadden's: Get your St. Pat's drinking started a little early with St. Practice Day at McFadden's at the Rio. Get up early for a $10 all-you-can-eat Irish breakfast and all-you-can-drink domestic draft green beer until 9 a.m. McFadden’s will also offer $3 Killian’s all day long and an open bar from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again from 10 p.m. to midnight, $10 for ladies, $20 for guys. March 17:

St. Patty's Party at McFadden's The party starts at 7 a.m. at McFadden's Irish Pub at the Rio and continues with a green bikini contest and concludes with a Last Man Standing contest. Enjoy the bagpipers, Irish dancers, live music and best of all: leprechauns!

St. Patrick's Day at Quinn's with Darby O'Gill: The party at Quinn's starts at 10 a.m. with $2 draft beers. The Limey Bar Stewards take the stage from 5-9 p.m., Darby O’Gill & The Little People start at 10 p.m. One lucky party goer will win a trip to Ireland. Fado's St. Patrick's Day celebration: Fado's Irish pub will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a blowout bash featuring music from Finnegan's Wake, The Cronies and Acoustic Soul plus beer trucks and tents outside so you can enjoy the beautiful weather.

McMullan's St. Patrick's Day Party: McMullan's Irish Pub celebrates St. Patrick's Day with concerts by Darby O'Gill and Tartanic plus a Guinness beer truck outside along with bagpipers and Irish dancers from the Sharon Lynn Academy.
