After Robert Dole wrote a letter Monday to Rush Limbaugh defending Sen. John McCain, Mitt Romney said in a FOX interview Tuesday morning that Dole was “probably the last person I would have wanted to have write a letter for me.” McCain condemned the comment in a statement and said the Romney should apologize to the decorated World War II veteran. Romney later called Dole an American hero and said he would love the former senator's support.
