Controversial beer pong video game sees name change

Las Vegas-based JV Games Inc.'s latest creation fell under criticism from Connecticut's Attorney General, Richard Blumenthal Monday.

According to an Associated Press story, the video game, intended for Nintendo Co.'s popular Wii game system, was a re-creation of the beer drinking game made popular by college students that takes the general idea of ping-pong and adds a few twists.

The game was approved by the Entertainment Software Rating Board for teens as young as 13-years-old to consume.

Blumenthal voiced concerns that the approval paved the way for similar games in the future that, "glorified alcohol abuse and binge drinking."

In response, JV Games changed the name of the game to Pong Toss and eliminated all references to alcohol according to the Associated Press.
